Embodyment was formed in 1993 under the name "Supplication" by guitarist Andrew Godwin and bassist Kevin Donnini. With a couple of songs written, they recruited vocalist/guitarist Jason Lindquist, guitarist Taylor Smith and drummer Mark Garza in hopes of bring original death metal to the music scene. Their first tape, Persistant Sin, while fairly successful, was more a mixture of metal with death-style vocals.
After a few concerts, Taylor Smith exited due to difference in opinion. With a change of name to Embodyment and a shuffling of duties (Donnini became bassist/vocalist and Lindquist began playing guitar full-time), they decided to proceed in a different direction; death metal. Wanting to progress musically and spiritually, they wrote new material which would become their second demo, Corrosion of the Flesh (1994). More powerful and mature that the previous effort and with a stronger message, the critically acclaimed Corrosion... was a hit among fans and musicians. Songs like "Dismembering Death", "Entropy" and "Apocalypse of the Suffering"contained intricate and catchy riffing, crisp blast beats and drumming patterns, with informative lyrics on subjects dealing with the Christian lifestyle. It was evident that with the success of Corrosion.. that the band had paved a new way for itself and was continuing to progress.
After dozens of concerts promoting the tape (including a two-day tour with Mortification), Embodyment took a 6-month hiatus from the music scene to write new material. In this time they acquired a fifth member and new front man, vocalist Kris McCaddon, to provide more intensity to the bands create tone and performance.
Exploding back on to the scene with brand new music and an enforced stage presence, Embodyment took the Dallas/Fort Worth scene by storm again. With the release of their new self-titled EP , they have wowed all hard music fans. The demo, which includes the three songs "Religious Infamy", "Golgotha" and "Persecute Me", is a relentless, brutal and refreshingly original blend of mind blowing music and song intensity. The lyrics are their most powerful to date. With the release, they won critical acclaim and a continually growing fan base.
The band has been featured in many underground and popular publications such as HM, The Narrow Path, Screams of Abel and Extremities. Their brutality and boldness has won them favor with fellow bands of all backgrounds. They have since played shows with such bands as "Living Sacrifice", "P.O.D.", "Focal Point", "Wicked Innocence", "Godfear","Crimson Thorn", and "Puncture" to name a few and continue to play numerous shows in the area and surrounding states.
The band continues to write music and their newest material is their strongest to date, perfectly combining different influences to create the most brutal sound the genre has ever heard. Embodyment is currently preparing to enter the studio to record their Solid State debut.
The band memebers are now Andrew Godwin/ guitar, Jason Lindquist/bass, Derrik Wadsworth/drums, Sean Corbray vocals. They are not metal anymore, but rock
